Coffee Anyone?
SLM plans to partner with Heartland Housing on the Viceroy Hotel project. The Viceroy, located at Ashland and Warren, will be rehabbed and reopened under a new name as a single-room-occupancy facility. SLM will lease one of the five residential floors for permanent housing for women who leave the Grace House program. Additionally, space in the restored lobby will be dedicated to the Gracie’s Coffee Shop project. This site, close to transportation, west Loop housing, and with a park right across the street, will provide a promising setting for developing coffee shop clientele and inviting residential units for Grace House women. SLM is launching a campaign to fund the physical creation of the Coffee Shop and to provide rental subsidies for the residences.
