Thank you for all who celebrated with us at the Heart of Saint Leonard’s on October 23. Over 200 of us gathered, including nearly 50 alumni and current participants to celebrate Saint Leonard’s. We are thankful for the people who support our Community – alumni, volunteers, donors, board members, church partners, sponsors, community partners, staff, and friends. Thank you to Illinois Senator Lakesia Collins, Illinois Representative Jawaharial Williams, and former Alderman Walter Burnett Jr., for supporting the SLM Community. Together, we raised over $150,000 for holistic and dignified reentry services.  |
| The event kicked off with a stellar poetry SLaM with pieces from Latrice Johnson, Grace House alumna, and Towanda Price, Grace House resident. Saint Leonard’s House Director, Anaviel Jones read excerpts from Finding Freedom: Poetry and Portraits of Former Inmates, a collection of Saint Leonard’s alumni poetry. |
| Special thank you to the Culinary Skills Training Program for preparing such a beautiful dessert spread to end the night. These students were just a few weeks into their training and took on the task of creating a variety of tasty treats for over 200 people! |
