April is Second Chance Month. Today we share a video from the Cook County Justice Advisory Council highlighting SLM’s partnership and impact in second chance work.
As Chief Administrative Officer Ivory Snow shares, “Give folks an opportunity. There is so much power in community. So much power in the words fair chance or second chance. I see the power of love and hope and community every day.”
Towanda Price, current Grace House resident, explains the joy and relief she felt when entering the doors of Grace house for the first time. “But when I got here, it was everything I needed. Going into the room and seeing these clothes like ‘wait a minute, this is everything I almost just lost’. So it felt like it was meant for me. And the love that coming to the facility, just everybody. It was the whole community.”
| “We are committed to seeing each of them have a second chance, or their best chance, to succeed and be their best selves.” – Avik Das, Executive Director, Justice Advisory Council |
| We see the power of chance and the power of community every day at SLM. Thank you to Avik Das and the Justice Advisory Council for your commitment to reentry and serving justice-impacted individuals. |
