Saint Leonard’s Capital Improvement Plan
Renovating the Saint Leonard’s Bob Dougherty Campus and Grace House Facilities
Renovations to six buildings on the SLM campus will focus on the following priorities:
- Privacy – converting to all single bedrooms in transitional resident houses
- Accessibility – Elevator/lift support for ADA access and easier mobility
- Dignity – Private bathrooms and addition of air conditioning
- Safety – Cameras, security systems, and privacy fencing
- Efficiency – Energy efficiency upgrades including weatherproofing, insulation, and new HVAC systems
- Community – Updated dining space, living rooms, outdoor areas, and family-friendly spaces
Enhancing our individualized workforce, education, and re-entry programs
We will respond to the growing needs of the Michael Barlow Center community by establishing new programs and enhancing existing programs.
Holistic support for workforce participants, through the addition of case management access to physical, mental, and bahavioral health care, and legal and housing referrals for program participants.
Expanded education and workforce offerings, with new industry-specific certificate programs and skill-based training beyond our existing culinary and construction programs.
Strengthening our financial foundation
Saint Leonard’s Ministries does not charge for any services. As with many human service organizations, public funding sources often do not cover the full cost of quality programs, and economic volatility threatens our ability to thrive. To address this, we will increase our investments to ensure stability for Saint Leonard’s participants and staff.
Currently, Saint Leonard’s utilizes a sustainable 4% draw from its $3 million in investments. Strengthening this fund will enhance our ability to be responsive to our rapidly changing environment. Strong finances will allow us to invest in our growth, enhance programs based on participant needs, and provide adequate and respectable compensation to all employees.
